Estimator (non-Union)

Monticelli Painting and Decorating is a medium sized commercial painting and wallcovering subcontractor serving the San Francisco Bay Area.  We are currently looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team, although we are willing to train the right individual with a good base of related construction experience.  We employ approximately 150 employees; however, our home-office staff consists of 16 so you must enjoy being part of a small, family environment and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. High work ethic, attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and flexibility are critical.  Teamwork, communication and integrity are of utmost importance. Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Attend pre-bid job walks
  • Review all bid documentation, construction drawings, requirements, and specifications and issue RFIs if needed
  • Review all supplemental bid materials that are issued during bid process
  • Perform accurate take-off using OnScreen Take-off and Quick Bid software programs
  • Provide detailed and accurate bid corresponding to complete scope of work
  • Follow up on job award status
  • Conduct thorough job handoff to project management team for all projects awarded
  • Be available to assist project management team when needed
  • Perform in-person client visits / relationship building
  • Maintain knowledge of current products and best practices

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience estimating or working in the construction industry, preferably coatings or drywall
  • Intermediate computer skills, specifically Excel
  • Ability to read construction drawings
  • Ability to work effectively and calmly in a deadline driven environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, outstanding customer service skills
  • Time-management and ability to multi-task a must
  • Integrity, patience and positive attitude
  • Organized and able to maintain accurate and detailed electronic files

Project Manager (non-Union)

Monticelli Painting and Decorating is a medium sized commercial painting and wallcovering construction subcontractor serving the San Francisco Bay Area.  We employ approximately 150 employees; however, our home-office staff consists of 18 so you must enjoy being part of a small, family environment and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. High work ethic, attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and flexibility are critical.  Teamwork, communication and integrity are of utmost importance. Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Review, understand and comply with all requirements of the subcontract document
  • Review and understand the Project Estimate;
  • Order or ensure all submittals and materials are ordered
  • Monitor job costs, track expenses and price change order work
  • Review and respond to all project RFI’s, Bulletins and other requests
  • Review schedule and ensure team is informed of changes; submit change order if costs are impacted
  • Consistent interaction with Superintendent
  • Attend contractor project meetings
  • Review costs and all potential issues with Project Director
  • Review and track punch list and project close out
  • Client relationship building – frequent face to face client visits
  • Work with billing team to determine appropriate billing amounts

Specific Knowledge and Skills:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years minimum of experience in construction industry
  • Intermediate to Advanced computer skills, specifically Excel, Adobe, Outlook etc. required
  • Resourceful: willing and able to track down answers; desire to “problem-solve”
  • Ability to work effectively and calmly in a deadline driven environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, outstanding customer service skills

Project Engineer

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Basic understanding of subcontract documents
  • Assist superintendent and project manager in the implementation of execution of projects
  • Organize project materials for distribution to field
  • Organize and electronically save all project files for easy access by project team
  • Assist with invoice and change order review
  • Order or coordinate all submittals and material orders
  • Review project budget and assist project manager in tracking costs
  • Review and assist with responding to all project RFI’s, Bulletins and other requests
  • Provide LEED information as necessary

Specific Knowledge and Skills:

  • 2 years minimum of experience in construction industry
  • Intermediate to Advanced computer skills (Excel, Adobe, Bluebeam, Outlook etc. required
  • Resourceful: willing and able to track down answers; desire to “problem-solve”
  • Ability to work effectively and calmly in a deadline driven environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, outstanding customer service skills
  • Time-management and ability to multi-task a must

Project Assistant (Non-Exempt Position)

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility for answering incoming calls and greeting visitors
  • Provide Administrative support to President & COO as needed
  • Maintain office supply inventory
  • Prepare deliveries, overnight mail packages and open and distribute mail
  • Fleet Management (20 vehicles, registrations, permits etc.)
  • Assist with IT and mobile device coordination
  • Compile job start materials and schedule kick off meetings
  • Open new jobs in Foundation software program
  • Assist with filing preliens and collecting insurance certificates
  • Compile all job close out materials and submit to client
  • Work closely with Superintendents to maintain accurate job lists
  • Price and track time and material sheets
  • Various other administrative and light accounting duties

Specific Knowledge and Skills:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of administrative experience; experience in construction industry preferred
  • Intermediate to Advanced computer skills, specifically Excel, Adobe, Outlook etc. required
  • Resourceful: willing and able to track down answers; desire to “problem-solve”
  • Ability to work effectively and calmly in a deadline driven environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, outstanding customer service skills
